Plot
Set in the mythical location of Shieldlands, this ITV series is a fantasy-drama based on one of English literature’s most legendary heroes Beowulf. Following many years wandering the land, acting as a mercenary warrior, our hero comes back to Herot. But with Herot being terrorised by a monster known as Grendl, Beowulf decides he must seek out and destroy the beast.

With filming for Beowulf having started in March of 2015, the series UK premiere date and time has now been set for Sunday the 3rd of January, 2016, at 7:00pm on ITV.
Filmed in the North East of England, this action-drama will be broadcast over 12 episodes, despite having originally being planned as a 13-part series.
