Prior to being cast in From Darkness, English actress Anne-Marie Duff has been best known for playing the role of Fiona Gallagher in the Channel 4 comedy-drama Shameless. Duff also happens to be the wife of Scottish actor and fellow Shameless star, James McAvoy.

Series Plot
Claire Church is an ex-Greater Manchester police officer who, due to her exposure to violence becoming too much to handle, chose to leave the force during the mid 1990’s.
Sick of this male dominated world and regularly facing sexual discrimination, Claire decided to leave her job and Detective Inspector husband far behind. After years of being made to feel second best in both her professional and private life, Claire now finds comfort in a fresh life with new partner Norrie and daughter Megan, living in the remote location of the Western Isles.
But as four bodies from earlier investigations are unearthed, and with her being the only person capable of solving the case, Claire gets drawn back into a life she believed firmly set in her past. Despite purposefully extracting herself from the world of criminal investigation, Claire begins to experience the pull of both the job which once sustained her and the man she used to love. How will Claire handle such emotions and stresses second time around?
